I am thankful that the clouds are back. Cool winds have returned. Last night I couldn’t sleep because my shoulders ached from sunburn.
I am creating a chart to track my progress across the ocean. I think I will be to Kiribati (Christmas Island) by early October. Weather experts are also watching my progress and giving advice.
The winds are favorable and the waves are only four or five feet high. They march in a gentle, rolling stride. My boat is made to surf the waves.
One improvement over my Atlantic crossing is longer oar blades. The oars were provided by my sponsor, Concept2. I have a shorter, thicker body than lanky, long-legged rowers. To make up for my height, I had my friend, Paul Papenhouse extend the blade ends three inches. Maybe these oars will help me arrive at my destination early!
