I am going to miss my friends and family during my eight-month trip.  I said goodbye to them.

My wife and I left home.  We began traveling to the place where I will set off in my boat.  We stopped to visit with my friend, Tom Lynch.  Tom has a home with redwood trees in the yard.

After I said goodbye, I felt better about leaving.

We arrived at San Francisco Bay.  We met many new people here.  The first person I met was Peter Hogg.  He is an expert in sailing.  A group of people from the country Turkey also came.

I hoped to depart on Saturday, but it was too windy. I have to wait until Monday.

The delay was for the best, but I was sorry that my friends from Turkey missed the launch.  They had to leave today and could not wait.  But their visit really inspired me.
