Method of Pancreatic Cancer Diagnosis with Antibody Magnetic Nanosphere Cocktail

Pancreatic cancer is notorious for its lethality and aggressiveness. It is often diagnosed
too late because early stages have few symptoms, and survival rates drop from over 80% in
early disease to around 3% in advanced stages. To address this, I developed a new blood test to
detect pancreatic cancer better. My method uses magnetic nanospheres to isolate tiny packets
of information, called extracellular vesicles, released by cancer cells, and analyzes their
associated DNA for KRAS mutations. Tested in a cohort of 46 pancreatic cancer patients and 18
healthy donors plasma samples, this method demonstrated an 87.0% sensitivity and 88.9%
specificity. This approach offers a promising minimally invasive way to diagnose and monitor
pancreatic cancer.
