As a teacher in training under Mrs. Kennedy, I learned the importance of looking at each child individually to identify obstacles to success in reading adn to then apply appropriate Reading Recovery strategies to help these students. As a fellow Reading Recovery teacher, I am still learning from her daily about how to continue to overcome these obstacles. One of the reasons Mrs. Kennedy works so fervently and effectively with these students is because of the obstacles that she herself has had to overcome. She looks at these students and she immediately envisions successful readers--not struggling readers. As a result, she has inspired me to share this same vision. I am truly grateful that I have the opportunity to work with and learn from her.
