Curcumin (Diferuloylmethane) is a major component of turmeric, which is used as a spice to give a specific flavor and yellow color in Asian food. The application of curcumin as a method of making PC-3 prostate cancer cells more sensitive to radiation was investigated. Curcumin at 2uM and 4uM concentrations in combination with radiation showed significant enhancement (2.61 and 7.00, respectively) of the cancer cell death by inhibiting the survival factors and triggering mitochondrial degradation of the prostate cancer cells.
