A shortage of ophthalmologists and inaccessibility of expensive eye equipment, especially in low-income countries, causes millions of people to experience preventable blindness from eye diseases such as glaucoma.  Through my research, I've developed EyePal - an innovative system seamlessly integrating multimodal artificial intelligence models with a low-cost, portable, and modular Raspberry-Pi-based retinal imager and companion mobile app.  Using EyePal, patients can have their retina imaged and automatically screened for glaucoma without the need for a doctor, contributing to increased accessibility of eye care and decreased global blindness from eye disease.
